John Bright Obituary, Death Cause – A memorial service to honor John’s life The memorial service for Dennis Bright will be place at Connection Christian Church in Odessa, Texas on Sunday, July 23, at four o’clock in the afternoon. Tracey Scown (Worley) and Dennis Bright welcomed their son John into the world on November 22, 1990, in the city of Odessa. On the morning of July 9, 2023, when he was 32 years old, he passed away in Dolores, Colorado.

John is survived by his parents, Robyn Bright, Houston and Brittany Bright, Mikky and Brooke Scown, Ginger Corey, and Brandy Scown, in addition to a large number of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other members of his extended family. Robyn Bright, Houston and Brittany Bright, Mikky and Brooke Scown, Ginger Corey, and Brandy Scown are John’s siblings. His maternal and paternal grandparents all passed away before him. John devoted his final years to preparing the groundwork for the construction of a house in East Texas, close to his cousins Brian Pace and Dana (Doc) Arroway, who were also like brothers and sisters to him.

John dedicated his entire life to laying a solid foundation in every aspect of his life. He had challenges, just like the rest of us, yet he managed to forge profound bonds with the people he cared about. John was a veteran who had served for six years in the Naval Nuclear Program. During that time, he served his country. Before he joined the military, he had an extensive history of community service, and he was willing to offer his time anywhere, from the local food bank to constructing homes in Mexico and Louisiana for people who were in need.

He was an immensely creative and talented soul who focused his energy on music and the myriad of instruments he was able to master, but he always came back to his first passion, which was sitting around singing and playing the acoustic guitar. He was a master of his craft. John was the kind of person you could count on for anything: an ear to listen late at night, a helpful hand in the midst of the day, a hilarious outburst to break up the silence, and sound advise at any hour of the day or night, with the exception of when someone messed with his younger sister. John was always there for you. He had a profoundly insightful perspective on life, and many people will miss him in a significant way.
